Lace Embers.... (for my sister)

Each day it sat there locked away
You were gone but it would stay.
Until I found inside of me
A burning flame I would set free.

We pulled it out and doused it with oil
Lace and pearls lay in soil
Flames lick at the memory of us
All the love I had and trust.

You said I was the one
Now you are gone.

Burn on.

Lace embers barely linger
Your ring not on this finger

Keep on passing by
Don’t look back
I’ll not cry
Just pack.

Burn on.

That dress I wore won’t hold me here
Freedom from you I’ll not fear
The lace dances to a song in my head
Flames dancing red.

Your house sits for sale
Empty and alone
Where I’m going – I’ll not tell
For once I’m on my own.

You said I was the one
Now you are gone.

Burn on.

Lace embers barely linger
Your ring not on this finger

Keep on passing by
Don’t look back
I’ll not cry
Just pack.

Burn on.
